The Especial Instrument for Iranian Ceremonies
The instrument's history dates back to the antiquity. According to the Shahnameh, it was King Jamshid who invented the sorna. Of course, it seems more to be a legend not a historical fact. The famous Persian poet Rumi has mentioned the sorna and dohol (double-faced drum) in his poetry. Except the literary evidences, there are also number of artefacts from Sasanid dynasty (224-651 CE), depicting sorna including a silver dish currently in Hermitage Museum.

Innovative Iranian musical instruments
Persian innovative musical instruments displayed at the Iranian Artists Forum on Sunday may 31 till June 1, 2009. The collection was gathered by Iranian musicians and makers. Many musicians made great efforts over the past few years to make changes in the structure and materials of the instruments. They also tried to add more new instruments to our previous collections which need to be recognized. People were actually able to test and play the displayed instruments during the two-day exhibit. Achaemenid Karna sound in Zagros Mountains range
Nowadays, Karna is a Persian folk music instrument that is being used by the people of Bakhtiyari and Qashqayee tribes, but in ancient eras it was known as a military and governmental instrument. Karna is made of wood and brass so we can't categorize in wood wind or brassy wind. Karna is often played with along Dohol in Bakhtiyari tribes and with Naghareh in Qashqayee tribes, in wedding, festive ceremonies, funeral, horse ridding and war.This instrument has a very aloud sound so that was mainly played in outdoors.

What do you know about DoTar
“DoTar” is a Persian folk instrument. It is very simple and has just two strings. It belongs to chordophone instrument family, and its name represents its shape. 'Do" means two and 'Tar" means string, In Persian language. DoTar is the mother of guitar and Sitar, Indian instrument. Based on the stone carvings found in Shoosh(Susa) and Choga Zanbil, Dotar almost dates to four thousand years ago at least.
